What is Beyond?
Beyond: Transformative Art Inquiry Lab for Early Childhood is a research-informed curatorial and inquiry platform that brings contemporary art, educational scholarship, and pedagogical practice into dialogue to reimagine possibilities for art in early childhood.
What does Beyond value?
Beyond values emergence, uncertainty, and the discovery of the unknown in children’s artistic encounters. We embrace possibilities that cannot be predetermined, but emerge through evolving relationships among children, materials, environments, and worlds.
Who is Beyond for?
Beyond welcomes educators, scholars, artists, curators, students, and others interested in reimagining art and early childhood education. Whether you enter through teaching, scholarship, or artistic practice, Beyond invites movement across disciplinary boundaries and participation in a shared space of inquiry.
Is Beyond membership currently free?
Yes. Beyond is currently in an Open Development Period, during which membership is free as we continue developing our content, resources, and community. Early members are invited to explore Beyond as it grows and become part of its emerging community.
Will membership become fee-based?
Yes. We anticipate transitioning to a fee-based membership model beginning in December 2026. Members who join during the Open Development Period will have the opportunity to continue through a special Founding Member rate. Membership benefits and pricing will be announced before the transition.
What will membership include?
Membership will provide deeper access to Beyond’s growing collection of Teacher Art Education resources, inquiry and research-based materials, extended curatorial content, artistic perspectives, and professional learning opportunities. Selected content will continue to remain publicly accessible, keeping Beyond open to encountering and exchanging new ideas.
Can I contribute to Beyond?
Absolutely. If you are an educator, scholar, artist, curator, or emerging writer interested in building your professional voice and exploring new connections among contemporary art, early childhood, research, and pedagogical practice, we welcome expressions of interest.
Opportunities may include contributions to Teacher Art Education, Beyond, and The Unfinished, as well as collaborative projects and special features.
