Beyond: Transformative Art Inquiry Lab for Early Childhood is a research-informed curatorial platform that explores innovative perspectives repositioning art and creativity in early childhood as a next-generation-centered approach.
Grounded in the reimagining of art for early childhood, the platform creates space for creative leaders to engage with uncertainty, the unknown, and indeterminacy through an artistic lens on the elements of the world, understanding learning as an ongoing process that evolves through entanglements between human and more-than-human existence. Extending innovative and transformative approaches to art in early childhood and education, the platform reimagines beyond dualistic thinking by bridging academic discourse, art, pedagogical practice, and other fields through undisciplinary, interdisciplinary, and cross-boundary approaches that transcend predetermined limitations.
Rather than positioning uncertainty, the unknown, and indeterminacy as outcomes to control or eliminate, the platform approaches them as the modes of being and as ethical and creative forces of togetherness, emergence, and transformative possibility. In doing so, Beyond Lab questions pre-existing conservative assumptions about early childhood art, while opening space for alternative and transformative possibilities in early childhood through aesthetic encounters
Beyond invites educators to recognize children as part of the world, to actively participate in the realities of coexistence and shared worldmaking. Through ongoing engagement with innovative artistic works, research, journals, curriculum, pedagogical reflections, inquiry-based documentation, and emergent encounters, the platform supports diverse and transformative possibilities in early childhood art inquiry.
